By heating sections on one large piece of sheet steel, the bodies of these rays have been forged and dished in a Repousse like manner.

The two figures passing by one another, entwining with a simple, elegant, wave form forged from solid steel bar.

This sculpture was sited on a local beach for some months as part of a local art festival, during which it was submerged in the north sea for many hours.

This has created a patina that could not have been replicated by hand, a mottled skin, so much like a real sea creature… a collaboration between me and the north sea itself!

This sculpture was also short listed as an entry into the 2020 “David Shepherds Foundation, Wildlife Artist Of The Year” competition.
