Steel Ammonite, Fossil Imprint -

These “negatives” have been forged under my Power Hammer using Ammonite “positives”.

First I forge an Ammonite, tapering a piece of square bar, twisting it into the desired pattern and curl it up into an Ammonite shape.

This shape is then pressed between two, super hot, chunks of steel.

This imprints the ammonite into both sections, creating a fossil in its “rock”.

The whole sets can be seen in my gallery, but this order is for one imprinted half.

A satisfying little keepsake, addictive to touch and aesthetically detailed.
